There are a number of parks and recreation sites within Aiea. The Keaiwa Healu State Recreation Area runs along the north side of Aiea and offers one of a kind hiking trails, scenic lookouts as well as ancient ruins and an ancient medicine shrine. Along the trail plane, debris from the attack on Pearl Harbour can still be seen.
The Aiea Bay State Recreation Area is set along the bay of Pearl Harbour and offers views of the memorial. There are biking and walking trails throughout the park as well as picnic locations and restrooms. The Aiea Bay State Recreation Area is the perfect place to spend the afternoon.
Aiea also features a number of community parks throughout, that feature play equipment for children as well as greenspace and picnic areas. The Napuanani neighborhood park and Aiea District Park are just a few that can be found settled within neighborhoods.
Aiea is home to the Pearlridge shopping center which is Hawaii’s largest enclosed shopping center and second largest shopping center in the entire state. Pearlridge was originally built in 1972 and expanded in 1976. The mall is so grand that it is divided into 3 separate phases which are connected by a monorail. Featuring a number of stores, services and dining options, Pearlridge is a go to location for many residents of Aiea.

The elementary schools located within Aiea are Alvah A. Scott Elementary School and Gus Webling Elementary School. The Aiea Elementary School is actually located within the neighboring Halawa.

Aiea, Oahu Transportation
There are a handful of major roadways and highways that run through Aiea and connect the area to neighboring towns and cities.
Kamehameha Highway (Hawaii Route 99) runs through and divides Aiea right along the coast of the bay. Highway 99 provides access to Pearl City and well beyond as it is one of the main highways serving the rural and urban areas of Oahu.
Highway 1 also runs through the commercial district of Aiea and can take travellers east to Honolulu and surrounding towns or west to Pearl City.
