Oahu is one of the most beautiful places you could get stationed. And the military knows it! Through MWR, a number of outdoor recreation and lodging facilities have been established for local and visiting military personnel to fully enjoy our beautiful island. Below are some of the recreational lodging options open to military & DoD personnel on Oahu. Check back soon for info about camp-grounds, too!

 

 

Barber’s Point Beach Cottages

One of the hidden gems of Barber’s Point is the beautiful beach cottages. Just steps away from the beach, these cottages provide the perfect getaway. Located on the South West shore, Barber’s point is one of the most popular beaches for long board surfers of all levels. It’s less than a 15 minute drive from almost anywhere in Kapolei or Ewa Beach. Not only is it a great white sand beach to hang out at all day, it offers plenty of recreational amenities. While you don’t have to be military to go to the beach or use most of its facilities, MWR offers surfing lessons, surf rentals, and covered cabanas with barbeque pits that you can rent out for small and large parties. You are also allowed to set up your own tents at no cost and with no reservations! Like with most MWR beaches, your four legged friends are not allowed to join you on the beach.

Kaneohe Bay Cottages & Cabanas

Enjoy the pristine blue waters of Kaneohe Bay with these cottages located on MCBH. Tucked away past the flight line, the cottages are situated along a scenic coastline and offer a fair amount of seclusion from the going-ons of the rest of the base. Kaneohe Bay offers some wonderful snorkeling and paddle boarding, and during certain months the surf at nearby Pyramid Rock beach is perfect! Each of the thirteen 2-bedroom, one-bath units have a full kitchen, living and dining area, air conditioning, lanai, BBQ grill and daily housekeeping service. The Cottages are the perfect getaway for the whole family and out-of-town guests. Each cottage has one queen bed in each room to comfortably sleep 4 people.

 

 

The cabanas at Kaneohe Bay offer smaller beach-front lodging with still upscale camping facilities. The cabanas are air conditioned, hotel-style bedroom studios with either one king bed or two queen beds. They have on-site community men’s and women’s bathrooms, and are secured through guest key-card. In-room amenities include complimentary WiFi, TV, DVD player, phone, coffee maker, mini-refrigerator, bath amenities, towels and daily housekeeping service. BBQ grills are also available for use.

Bellows AFS Cabins and Condos

Bellows offers a wide range of lodging options, all situated along the breath taking East coastline of Oahu. We’re talking sparkling, crystal clear turquoise water and supremely soft white sand beach. Located just a short walk away from both the cabins and condos is a gas station and mini-mart, and the Turtle Cove building. Turtle Cove houses Reservations, ITT, a restaurant, coffee bar, and mini pub! They also provide equipment rentals for a wide variety of outdoor activities like snorkeling, surfing, and kayaking!

The cabins sleep fours adults or a family of six comfortably and come with a fully equipped kitchen, plus a living area. While they do only allow six guests per cabin overnight, they do allow up to 16 occupants per cabin during the day – making it perfect for friends to join you during your staycation. 

 

 

The Na Mokulua Condo Units offer premium beach view, condo living. With the same capacity as the cabins, these units also offer central A/C, a fully equipped kitchen and breakfast nook, a living area, and an outside patio area.

Hale Koa Hotel

In the heart of Waikiki, the Hale Koa is an oceanfront hotel with plenty of resort amenities. Plus, the Ilima pool is accessible to anyone with a military or dependent ID, even if you are not a guest of the hotel. Pililaau Army Recreation Center (PARC) Cottages

Head out to the West side of Oahu for some jaw-dropping beautiful beaches and this wonderful Army recreation center. Located on Pokai Bay, PARC captures the essence of “old Hawaii” with beachfront property surrounded by rustic farms and homes. On site are picnic areas and pavilions, as well as surf and SUP rentals.
