Schofield, Barracks, Wahiawa, & Wheeler

Hawaii Plantation Village is a popular attraction spread out over an area of 40 acres. This living history museum is located close to the Waipahu sugar mill. In Mililani, you will many attractions, fun activities, and recreational activities to choose from. Dole Plantation attracts tourists from around the world with its train tour and garden maze. Explore some of the local parks like the Mililani District Park and Maka’unalau Community Park. Families with children enjoy sports amenities and swimming pools in the many recreational centers located in Mililani.
Residents of the area love beaches and surfing. Throughout the island, you will find places offering surfing lessons and beaches hosting surfing events. The Polynesian Cultural Center and Sea Life Park and popular for luaus. Waikiki is also a good place to find affordable luau experiences at the Hale Koa luau.

Located between Whitmore and Mililani, Wahiawa is home to the Schofield Barracks base. This vibrant neighborhood is surrounded by Lake Wilson on three sides. For military families, Wahiawa is a top choice for housing due to convenient access to the base. With attractions like Dole Plantation located a short distance away, there is much to do in and around the area. Wahiawa is also conveniently located 10 minutes away from the stunning beaches of North Shore. Honolulu Airport is located 25 minutes away while Milani is only five minutes away. Wahiawa doesn’t have a lot of big city amenities, but most dining and shopping amenities can be found five minutes away in Mililani.
Waipahu was once a sugar plantation and today it’s a small, sleepy community. Waipahu has several modern subdivisions with condominiums, townhouses, and detached homes. Residents have access to many amenities and recreational attractions. Waikele Golf Course and the Waikele Premium Outlets are located nearby. L’Orange Park is an athletic field that is quite popular with families. Schools and higher education institutions like Kapiolani Community College and Honolulu Community College are also located near Waipahu.
